Once we have confirmed the suitability of a site, we work with you to select the best development and technology options for safe, effective long-term storage, including the well location, construction techniques, and monitoring methods.
Our drilling and well construction services engineer the injection wells with the durability to both deliver the CO2 to the storage target, and to isolate and protect the intervening formations. We design and construct monitoring wells with sensors. Baseline monitoring readings are then taken from the wells and from surface systems.
The injection phase typically lasts from 10 to 50 years and we continuously monitor the storage system during that time to compare actual storage against predictions. Independent verification provides regulatory assurance.
Models of storage performance are also updated regularly with monitoring data, and if a significant deviation from plan is detected, risk mitigation and remediation actions are implemented.
